Miami -. Much of the United States will advance the clock one hour early Sunday morning to fit the summer and earn one hour of natural light, which in turn will save energy.
On Sunday at 02:00 am local time, Americans will have their clocks forward one hour, so the schedule will be officially 03:00 am.
This practice finds its origins in a suggestion of Benjamin Franklin, who in a letter of 1784 estimated that advance the time to onset of spring could allow a considerable saving on candles.
Time changes are subsequently used during the First World War (1914-1918), to save enough fuel to generate electricity, and his unpopularity originated the measure is not implemented again until World War II (1939-1945 ), specifically between February 1942 and September 1945.
The Energy Policy Act of 2005, signed by then President George W. Bush, stated that from 2007 DST will begin the second Sunday in March and conclude the first Sunday in November.
The measure, however, is not mandatory in all states and now the time change does not apply in Arizona, Hawaii, Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The country will return to winter dawn on November 2 this year. read more... latest online news
