The Red Sox scored five runs in the first two rounds and won the first game of the World Series 8-1 over the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday in Boston.
In the first inning, Mike Napoli has managed a double good for three points after the officials overturned a decision on their previous game. The second base umpire initially stated that Dustin Pedroia was removed, but the ball was never in the glove shortstop Pete Kozma.
After conferring for several minutes, the referees decided that Pedroia was safe. In the second inning, Carlos Beltran has saved his team a grand slam. He caught a ball hit beyond the right field fence by David Ortiz.
His defensive play has not left unscathed. His chest was heavily struck the fence. He left the game in the next inning and was taken to hospital.
The evening working Cardinals pitcher Adam Wainwright ended after five innings. He allowed six hits and five points, three earned.
His defense has not helped with three errors. And more could be included in the record when the Cardinals infield with a candle fell between Wainwright and catcher Yadier Molina. Both players are regarded as the ball spun them.
In the seventh inning, Ortiz this time succeeded his fourth homer of this postseason, good for two points.
